When the World Health Organization declared COVID-19, (a.k.a. "Corona Virus") as Global Pandemic back in March 2020, people around the world resorted to panic buying, even hoarding of much needed supplies when governments of the world started imposing "lockdowns".
Today, while the world is slowly recovering from the sham that this virus has caused both economically and personally, fear remains to float in the air as new variants keep surfacing, slowing the efforts for us tir ecover our regular, normal lives.
Peering closely to what took place during the onset of the virus breakout and even up to now, I am reminded of how Jesus Christ was deeply moved when He saw the crowd who were confused and helpless, not knowing what to do, and described them like sheeps without a shepherd.
When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. ~ Matthew 9:36
I believe God's message for us as Christians during these trying times is the same message He told His disciples in that very moment: The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few ~Matthew 9:37.
We do not know, and we cannot explain what took place in the Spiritual realm before the virus outbreak happened to us. But one thing is for sure: Jesus wants us to take this opportunity to share the good news of His salvation. All around us are people who are lost, panicking, depressed, hopeless, helpless and do not know how to deal with this situation. They are like sheeps panting for the taste of freshwater. And as bearer of Jesus Christ' gift of salvation, our calling is to usher them to the true source of Living Water - Jesus Christ himself.
Incidentally, when I read Matthew 9, I felt God really talking to me and showing me that during that time in the Bible, He was busy going around the towns of Israel, PROCLAIMING the Good News of the Kingdom and HEALING EVERY DISEASE and SICKNESS. That even at such as time as this, God was busy and eagerly preaching the gospel and healing people. I believe in my spirit that what God wants us to do is exactly what He did during those times ---to preach the good news and to heal His people.
Maybe, just like me, you thought for a moment and said, "How could that be possible God?" Well, Jesus only said two things after telling His disciples that the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few:
- "Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field"~Matthew 9:38. In this passage, God is specifically telling us to pray! To ask the Lord of the Harvest to send out workers to preach the gospel. And if you are a Christian, you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that also means YOU & I! We need to stand up out of this decapitating situation and walk in the power and the commission that He has given us. And rally and recruit more of us by praying to the Lord of the Harvest!
- "Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness" ~Matthew 10:1. Not only is God calling us to step out, He is also reminding us that He has given us the authority to cast out every evil spirits and HEAL EVERY KIND OF DISEASE AND ILLNESS! Hallelujah!
You see, God's message for us is simple. Look around you and ask for the Holy Spirit to guide you, and you will see that many around you are still confused and helpless even after almost two years since this pandemic happened. Approach them, encourage them, and pray for them, and declare healing and protection upon them and their households. Introduce our beloved Jesus to them. Be the salt and light that God has called us to be, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden.
And as you obey God, do not be anxious. His mighty wings is covering you as you abide in the shelter of the Most High. He is our place of safety. And He is shielding you from every trap and deadly diseases ~ Psalms 91:1-3.
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. ~Matthew 9:35
God bless you mighty warrior of God!
